Patrick Beverley (knee) to miss three weeks

Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley will miss the first 20 games of the regular season according to head coach Mike D’Antoni.

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that Beverley will require knee surgery on his left knee.

Beverley was set to be in the Rockets’ starting lineup next to James Harden, but he will now likely be replaced by Eric Gordon, who signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Rockets in the offseason.

Last season Beverley averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game but his main value is his defense as he is widely considered one of the better perimeter defenders in the game.
