ESPN’s Marc Stein first reported that the Wolves and Casspi were closing in on a deal.
According to AP, Casspi met with Wolves coach, Tom Thibodeau, in New Orleans for a couple of hours and the deal progressed from there. Thibodeau is on the look out for depth after the Wolves recent stretch of injures.
In 23 games with both the Kings and the Pelicans this season, Casspi has averages of 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds on 46.0% shooting from the field and 39.4% from three.
Last week, Casspi was cleared to return to basketball activities after breaking his right thumb in his first game with the Pelicans. He is a solid addition to the Wolves’ bench and he should have a sizable role in their rotation moving forward.
