Knicks’ Joakim Noah suspended 20 games after testing positive for banned substance

New York Knicks center Joakim Noah has been suspended for 20 games by the NBA after testing positive for a banned substance, the league announced on Saturday morning.

The suspension will be enforced when Noah is healthy enough to return to the court but he has been on the sidelines since February 4.

The substance that he tested positive for is Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator LGD-4033, which helps build muscle and lose fat.

Noah signed a 4-year, $72 million deal with the Knicks last summer and he has posted averages of 5.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.8 blocks in 22.1 minutes per game (46 games).
