Jazz F/C Derrick Favors has taken to Twitter to respond to trade rumors, well, at least that’s what many are speculating it is.
Favors’ name has been mentioned in trade rumors and the Jazz are reportedly willing to move the 26-year-old if it nets them a younger player.
The Jazz are reportedly in discussions with the Bulls on a deal surrounding Nikola Mirotic, and once everyone learned both Mirotic and Favors were not playing tonight, it set social media a light.
Favors sat out Wednesday’s game against the Wizards with an ankle sprain, while Mirotic missed his second straight game due to illness.
A Mirotic-Favors swap wouldn’t make a ton of sense, for the Bulls in particular. With the emergence of Lauri Markkanen, moving Mirotic has become a priority to free-up playing time. The last thing they’d want to do is bring in another frontcourt player who would interfere with that.
It’s certainly possible a deal involving the two comes together, but for now, don’t bank on it.
As for Favors, he’s set to be a free agent at the end of this season and is looking to cash in after an injury plagued 2016-17 campaign. So far he’s posting satisfactory numbers of 12.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 blocks in 28.1 minutes per game.
With all that said, Favors’ tweet may be completely unrelated to trade rumors. It’s the beauty of trade season. Buckle up!
